Manhattan Neighborhood Network Cable Broadcast

"Carol and Joe's Extraordinary Life" program broadcast on Manhattan Neighborhood Network (Channel 34 ) will present three programs about Kaila's work as a special needs music teacher and concert pianist. The first broadcast aired on Tues, April 8th at 7:30 PM. The second will air
Tues, Aug 12th at 7:30 PM and
can be viewed on the internet with REAL VIDEO player (ver 8) as well. The Aug broadcast will include video clips of classroom activities, a musical scrapbook, and an interview with Kaila. The artwork of Fred Gubitosi and John Tran are featured in the video presentations.

John Chan's
Stained Glass Designs

A beautiful stained glass window design by John Chan will be seen on the second MNN television show "Carol and Joe's Extraordinary Lives". The show features Kaila's work in music both as a special needs music teacher and a concert pianist. The magnificent stained glass design serves as a visual accompaniment to Kaila's interpretation of Mozart's Turkish Rondo.

Mr. Chan is a special education teacher and an artist. He has a studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn where he offers classes in the art of stained glass.

Rusk Institute Seminar

Alice Landry, Senior Recreation and Art therapist at the Rusk Institute of NYU Medical Center, has asked Kaila to discuss her teaching experience with severely disabled children before a group of therapeutic professionals.

The seminar is to be presented on
Aug 27th 2003. It will focus on Kaila's classroom use of her instructional audio CD and other strategies for teaching special needs students.

Performance at the Donnell Library

On Monday December 29, 2003, 2:30 p.m. Kaila will perform a program of piano music by Beethoven, Schubert, Grieg, Chopin and Defalla  at  the

This is Kaila's fourth season performing at the Donnell Library. Admission is free to the public.

Performance with the Forest Hills Symphony

On June 22, 2003 Kaila performed the Haydn D Major Concerto with the Forest Hills Symphony, under the baton of Franklin Verbsky. It was the seventh consecutive season that she has performed with the orchestra.

Kaila has been invited back to perform the Beethoven C Major Concerto in June 2004.

Significant Achievement Award

This April, Kaila will be presented with a "Significant Achievement Award" by The Institute for Community Living.

The mission of the ICL is to assist people with mental and developmental disabilities who need opportunities to improve their quality of life and to participate in community living by providing high quality services and support.
